Claude Munson’s family & friends are sponsoring a refugee family from Syria – a mother, a father both aged 30 and their four boys aged ten to five. They are expected to arrive very shortly and will settle into an apartment close by. Contributions are key to the success of this project which is why when asked by my family how I could help, the idea of a fundraiser with live music immediately came to mind. With the help of my friend Corey from Flapjacks, we were able to lock down a date to make this happen on Friday December 18th.
Half of the proceeds from the door cover will go directly to this Syrian family with the help of this particular sponsorship group consistent of family, friends and neighboors. These twelve people have taken on the responsibility of funding the Syrian family for a full year for all their living and accommodation costs as well as guiding them through their re-settlement. The other half of the door money will go to the musicians performing. There will also be a box for donations at the door. We hope many will come to join and be part of this event of helping a family start their new lives in Canada. Please spread the word and invite your friends and family!
